"In 2005, 200 seniors were displaced from their Volunteers of America housing due to the damages sustained during Katrina. The Action Team, a national youth volunteer initiative, helped individuals move-in and assembled and distributed Welcome Home kits as many former residents returned home after four and a half years. "This photo was taken at our benefit concert for Invisible Children, which is an organization that is working to not only end the 23 year old civil war that continues today in Uganda, but to also help rebuild schools and communities there that have been destroyed by the war. "Our nonprofit organization decided to order shirts for our volunteers to purchase and wear to adoption events and make us easily recognizable to potential adopters. We have had them a few months now and it makes us much more unified wherever we go! This picture was taken outside the store at one of our adoption events, pretty much a typical Saturday. This definitely isn't all of our volunteers, just those who could step away for a minute and were wearing their shirts! Of course some of our adorable adoptables had to squeeze in and say cheese! "Our meeting on Cell-Cell Fusion (...Science!!) was booked in hall with only plastic "high school" chairs to sit in for 4 days and 5 nights of talks. As the Chairperson organizing the meeting, I was not psyched about fielding complaints about 120 pains in the a**! So my choice for souvenirs was dead obvious SEAT CUSHIONS!! Here are the conferees still smiling after the whole meeting was over. They thought I was nuts on Sunday, but by Thursday I was a genius! Planning to pick up my Nobel Prize in Ergonomics next year!"
