"The photo was our biggest group photo we've taken as a club at SUNY Oneonta. We are a fairly new club with a gigantic fan base and we just love hanging out and defending against zombie invasions. "The Wolf Family rode in the 42 Annual Hilly Hundred, a two-day 100-mile bicycling tour through southern Indiana. Even though some of the family had ridden no more than 6 miles before this, we stuck together as a team (all wearing our CustomInk jerseys), and attained a major accomplishment! "This photo is in the opening set of our marching band show, which is what our t-shirt is based off of. Matt was always in the wrong spot and did the wrong thing at the wrong time, so the directors would always say "Matt Inman. You are WRONG." "I'm a third grade teacher to 20 wonderful students. I teach in Huntington Park, CA which is a low-socioeconomic area. The school is for underprivileged children who have been falling through the cracks in the public school system. It is very unfortunate because the current statistics say that only 7% of these children will have the ability to go to college. The mission of the Aspire School District and the school that I am working in is to expose the students to different colleges while teaching them the regular curriculum and encouraging them to work hard and make their way to college. In doing so, each teacher is required to choose a school for her class to learn about throughout the school year.
There is research that states that at the end of 6th grade if you ask a child what they will do after high school, if they say college there is about an 80% chance they will really go. If they say "I don't know" or something other than college, the chance they will go to college is very low.
By teaching students about college at an early age and making kids excited and motivated to go, their chance of going will increase!
Every Friday the kids are encouraged to wear college t-shirts, especially those from the school their teacher has chosen to "adopt" for the year. Because I'm teaching in an area where most families don't have much money, most of the kids can't afford to buy their own shirts. I don't want any kid to be left out, so I need to raise money so all of the kids can have a shirt.
